Young children boys and girls can keep active and have fun by taking part in the variety of organized sports and activity programs led by Thurmanetics and sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department. From basketball to softball to volleyball, they are all welcoming new participants. There are also great opportunities for children with disabilities to experience the fun of playing sports.
THURMANETICS SKILLS CLINIC
Skills Clinic – Wide Receiver & Defensive Back includes:
A clinic formulated specifically for the development of young football players. Powered by Outside the Box Specialty Training is designed to cultivate the core principles necessary in position development. Lead by coach Jason Allen, the clinic will focus on agility, technique, and conditioning while integrating an emphasis on character development and the mental preparation necessary for competition readiness.
Agility - Focus on speed training, flexibility, and explosiveness, incorporating the use of drills, ladders, and cones.
Technique - Training focus on development of fundamentals including alignment, form, assignment, and attention to detail.
Conditioning - Focus on increasing physical and mental stamina, including the tools to overcome mental fatigue and create a sense of urgency necessary for a player to be fourth quarter ready
Character - Emphasis on respect for self and others, integrity, discipline, accountability, and discipline in creating excellence in sportsmanship.
Competition Readiness - Integration of four points of training to play smart, fast, and with reckless abandon.
